Apple Picking on Apple Hill

We have started a new tradition in our family and that is Apple Hill. Last year we took grandma Lexie with us and ate a delicious barbecue lunch with kids. This year grandma was out of town and we decided to take a fun drive through Apple Hill during the week. Which was a fantastic idea because each orchard was desolate! In the past there is usually a line out the door for apple cider donuts. This year we were able to walk up and they made them right then and there for us. We have a few favorite Orchards on Apple Hill. We always stop at Rainbow Orchard first. That's where you can get the donuts made fresh and warm. Apple Ridge is where you can get the apple dumplings with caramel sauce. And last but not least High Hill. At High Hill you can grab an apple cider donut decorated with frosting and delicious toppings. Honestly, there are over a 100 places to stop on Apple Hill. Since we had gone during the week not many of the orchards were open. But there were no crowds and we find that worth it! Before you start to scroll down I just want to apologize about the abundance of photos:
The Christmas trees ware ready:
A nice little hike through the fall leaves and Christmas trees:
We took home a box full of pink ladies:
Solin is in her counting stage. She looked at all of these apples and said 1,2,3,4,5,7,6,8,9 and 10! Almost!
I would love to carry this tradition into Christmas. They have so many beautiful Christmas Tree farms in this area.

My Life #Instagrammed

Moving back to my hometown has been a dream. There have been many many times during my child hood where I didn't want to be stuck in this little town. But moving back brings back all of the fond memories I was able to share with my mother and sisters. We get to go to the park where I celebrated my 5th birthday. We get to go to the library and hear stories from the same Mrs. Patty who read me stories when I was little. Plus we get to go and eat at all of my favorite nostalgic restaurants I couldn't live with out. Here are a few photos from my instagram reel where we get to enjoy my hometown glory:
Rainy Days are full of jumping in puddles but we still have to feed the goats above!
These past two months have been hard for our family. We had our grandma and one of our closest friends pass away. The photo below is at Mickey's celebration of life. Solin was able to bring some happiness to the party:
Once a week we try and make it to the story time at our local library. We get there a little early so we can have our own seats. Otherwise, Solin is not happy. She's basically like an only child and doesn't know how to share. So, taking her to story time is her only social engagement.
The season to make caramel apples:
The country life suits Solin very well:
Above: Early morning wake up call to watch Corey on a rainy Friday morning, which called for a Starbucks stop for hot cocoa and a chili mocha for me!
Below: Solin fell asleep on our way to celebrate a birthday. Instead of keeping her in the stroller we made a comfy bed out of the booth:
I love taking Solin to Lodi Lake where I grew up. The tree above is the same tree I climbed on when I was in kindergarten and we went on a field trip to the Nature Trail.
I have this thing with shoes:

Fall Finds

Here are my new favorites for fall. I found some amazing products at Ulta over the last month and I wanted to share them with you. My favorite places to shop right now are UltaRei, and Sephora. I've been on a kick to find the best foundation for my skin and once I tried the Juice Beaty I knew it was perfect for me. It is Organic and smells like an apple orchard! Bare Minerals is another thing that I finally tried. I've heard wonderful things about their powders but ultimately their eye shadow and mascara work great. Now that we live out in the country I needed to find some slip on rain boots. I have a great pair of Hunter Boots that have been through a lot. When I tried on these rain boots at Madewell, I knew the were going to be perfect. They have a sense of the 90's going on... and since I am a child of the 90's, I'm going to rock them.

Halloween Recap

I started my brain storming for Solin's Costume way back in September. I bought her a gorgeous blue dress with a white collar and then I searched thrift stores and the internet for a straw hat. I thought it would be adorable if Solin was Madeline for Halloween. I found an easy yellow straw hat on Amazon and ordered it from there. But for some reason the hat was going to ship form China and wouldn't be here until November! What? My search continued. I found this adorable kitty dress from Brickyard Buffalo and went from there. It wasn't until the week of Halloween when we were talking about Halloween costumes when my sister in law said Solin should be a frog! Gosh, why didn't I think of that. Literally it would make Solin's dreams come true if she could be a frog for Halloween. (BTW Solin catches frogs out on the ranch daily.) Now here I am scrambling at the last minute to find a DIY frog costume. Surprising my sister Katie found the mask at a thrift store and I bought Solin's dress and tights here and here. Her gloves were a random find at Walmart and her Hunter Boots are what she wears daily. There she was a frog for trunk or treating on Saturday, while mommy and daddy went out to their Halloween Party. Unfortunately, the green tights were ruined from the rain. SO, Solin ended up being my little kitty after all. And the saddest of news is that I still haven't received that yellow hat!
Now that we live out in the country we must venture into the city to go trick or treating:
Since Halloween is always such a hustle and bustle we stopped at Smack Pie and created our own little pizzas. My husband creates his own with too many toppings and then I order the Lodi Grape Pizza with apples and walnuts. It is incredible. They use a delicious blanca sauce with blue cheese!
After all of the candy and trick or treating, Solin was pooped:
Here are a few of our other costumes:
My husbands James bond costume was easy to recreate. He used his tux from his high school prom and we found these frozen martini glasses here. Then he used a simple paint ball gun as a prop:
With all of my planning for Solin's costume, I forgot to plan mine. Last minute I scrambled and borrow this costume from my mother in law: Carrie!
The other party goers: Bob Ross and Stella
