Easter Parade

Three weeks postpartum and I decide to partake in a 5k Easter run. I'm crazy right.... And why don't I bring my 3 week old baby with me. Now I’m truly insane!

I woke up bright an early and put on my running shoes. Met my friend and ventured off to Lodi Lake where their annual Easter 5k is staged. This was my very first 5k. I had decided to sign up for the 5k as my motivation to get back in shape. When the time came; I was already having separation anxiety and didn't want to leave my breastfed baby at home. So she came along with me. I bundled her up with a beanie and gloves. She was nice and cozy in her Bugaboo carriage.
Again I was only three weeks postpartum and did not receive my OK from the doc to start working out. So I took it slow. The 3.1 mile run became a 3.1 mile stroll.  Other women were there with their toddlers in their running strollers. And Solin was sleeping like a baby in her Bugaboo Cameleon.

I ended the 5k at 00:58 minutes and journeyed off to the after party of pancakes and carbs!

What's in a Name?

"that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet" -Shakespeare

I had the name “Nora” officially picked out. That was my husbands great grandmother's name and it was beautiful. However a few family members did not like the name. They thought the name was too old fashion. And our boy name was Asher Grey.
It was 24 hours after giving birth and the nurse was still pushing the birth certificate on us, we knew we had to decide. I had the name Solin on the back burner because I didn't want to steal my cousin’s baby name. I asked for her permission and the response: her daughters name is actually Solenne and pronounced (sol-een) and we would be pronouncing our baby girl's (so-lynn). SO actually my husband invented our daughters name evolving from my cousin’s beautiful name. But generally the name was so beautiful and sounded so elegant. My sister in law gave the recommendation of Solin Grey and it was set in stone.

I was an emotional wreck at our first doctors appointment three days after Solin was born. The nurse called “Sal-in, Sal-in?” Maybe it was the postpartum emotions, but I cried. Why did we name her that, why did we spell her name like that, no one is ever going to say it right… My husband had to comfort me for a while. And of course the name has grown on me. Whenever I introduce Solin everyone says it is a beautiful name… and where did her name come from. Long story short...
I know my baby girl is the one and only and that makes me one happy mommy!

She is getting older by the minute!

It's hard to see my little girl growing by the pound and by the inch.
Every little facial expression I want to bottle up and keep forever.
I was told to sleep when she is sleeping... but I love watching how adorable she is.
Since my baby girl was a surprise. We have a lot of yellow and grey outfits!
And those smiles... whether they are brought on by gas or giggly dreams I love them all

Newborn Photos

When these photos were taken we did not have an official name for her. She was known as Female Whiteman. On all of her paperwork it reads: FEMALE WHITEMAN. Also Solin was not in a very good mood, the photographer woke her from her newborn slumber to take these photos. I was not happy about that and did not want my photo to be taken either.
Hence the wonderful daddy daughter photo:
